Introduction by: Peter Marshall

This is the last of our interview trilogy with Ashish Gandham, Managing Director, Global Travel Retail, Suntory Global Spirits. Have we saved the best till last? You decide, but for me the 3 interviews as a whole will resonate deeply with the business community – not just because of the brand communication, but also because Ashish has strong opinions on the direction the industry needs to take, notably how brand building will evolve – that it has to change in Travel Retail.

So what do we feature this time on trunblocked.com? Well, we start with looking at the potential of agave spirits in Travel Retail. We then move onto discussing life after Edrington for Suntory Global Spirits’s UK distribution. Ashish provides very clear reasons as to why this is a clear positive for the company from both a business and consumer perspective.

He then answers the question whether the business is agile enough to deal with increasingly discerning passengers and with rapidly changing geographical shifts in product preferences. Again his answers are refreshingly transparent.

What about his views on Suntory Global Spirits’ standout activations over the last 12 months? His answer to this is fascinating because it provides a clear understanding of where the business is heading and what its key expectations and hopes are when it comes to future activations.

And what about new brand stories that we will see in Cannes? Watch here for news on Bowmore and Laphroaig.

At the end of the interview we talk about the significance of social sustainability and the focus of the Travel Retail team. And, of course, to sign off, this is followed by the three things that Ashish wants to communicate to the trade.

It really is another thoroughly engrossing video interview.
