This is the last in the current series of videos from the successful ACI Europe Commercial and Retail Conference held at the end of last year. And there is really nothing left out in this thoroughly transparent exchange with Dr. Jan-Henrik Andersson, who combines three roles in one at Munich Airport. He is not only Chief Commercial Officer, but also Chief Security Officer and Chief Technology Officer. His perspective is, therefore, all-encompassing as he sees the airport as a canvas onto which a carefully curated strategy is applied.
So we talk about Munich Airport’s development as an airport city, about the symbiotic relationship with Lufthansa and the airport’s surrounding community, the ongoing 700 million euro investment programme, the balancing act between retail and f & b, the airport’s digital transformation strategy and its use of artificial intelligence, the importance of sustainability as well as data sharing. ‘I’m in favour of data-driven decisions, not opinions’, he says.
And there’s a lot more, which includes some personal observations on self-improvement. Jan-Henrik’s mantra is: Test, Measure, Learn. He firmly believes that the industry should have more of an acceptable failure culture, to the extent that there is even a F**kUp room in the airport.
It’s simply a great interview. Enjoy.
