“Twin Stars” is a very accurate description, and refers to both Varna and Burgas Airports, gateways to the beautiful Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. This 4 minute film focuses on Varna – to be followed by Burgas next week – and is an immersive walkthrough of the reimagined airport.
In spite of some of the challenges shared by many regional airports – and these have been exacerbated by well-known geopolitical factors – Fraport Bulgaria, together with partners Avolta and Lagardère Travel Retail, have made significant investments across both airports, creating industry firsts along the way. A brave move for approximately 1.8 million passengers for each airport last year, but one clearly designed for growth.
What has been delivered is exceptional. Both airports are now operationally highly efficient and provide a very attractive duty free and f & b experience for passengers, already delivering an increased spend per passenger. And, as you will see, the creation of the Gate Garden is quite outstanding.
Importantly, although both airports are similar in design, there are key differences – not least in the sense of place experienced as well as the finessed retail approach to match the different passenger profiles.
